WoodCarving Cruise with Josh Guge

Kathleen Tansey asked me to get this information to the club. I'll bring some printed info to the meeting in September, but you might want to investigate it before then, as deposits are due in September. Looks like it might be pretty neat and Josh is a premier carvver of wild life.

"
Hi,
I am the travel agent who arranges the Carvers' cruises. Could you share this information with your club members? It's a nice getaway from cold winter weather, great time with fellow carvers and relaxing for those spouses that don't carve.

Our next Carvers' cruise will focus on air brush painting to obtain a realistic look. Josh Guge will teach onboard the Norwegian Dawn on a 7 day exotic Caribbean cruise beginning January 18, 2014.. Josh chose the itinerary because the angel fish and the toucan bird can be seen in their natural environment at the port stops. Josh invites your members to get away for a week vacation and build skills level for finishing wood carvings.

Please include an article or the flier in your next newsletter. Deposits are due by mid September and balcony cabins are quickly being assigned.

I look forward to hearing from you with any questions that you might have regarding this possible opportunity.

Back from a wonderful trip to Jerusalem and Bethlehem, Looking forward to sharing with you soon.

We may have some interesting show and tell items from those members who have been to seminars in Missouri and Tennesee!

Also, don't forget the North Arkansas Woodcarvers Club's Annual Show May 4th & 5th at the Baxter County Fairgrounds in Mountain Home, Arkansas. We would truly appreciate you helping us get the word out and pass this along to other woodcarvers.
Please join us!!!
Thank you,

I suspect the Heineckes will have wood for sale and Larry Yudis and other tool vendors will have plenty of books and tools and such! Might even see a famous carver or two.

Carving with Dave Stetson

The Central Arkansas Woodcarvers had a two day class with Dave Stetson last weekend. He's a good instructor and members enjoyed the class and bought tons of roughouts. Dave focused on carving from a blank, and adding symmetry, and motion.I must have learned something, because the carvings I did were not like my usual caricatures! It was a lot of fun and very informative. Dave also has DVDs.

March Meeting and Dave Stetson carving seminar

The next meeting will be March 8 and 9 at the First Electric Building. Fred has arranged for a seminar with the famous Dave Stetson for Friday and Saturday, 9am-4pm -ish. Cost is $75 plus whatever roughouts you want to buy. Come and visit a bit on Saturday even if you can't make the seminar! You might want a roughout or you might just want to conversate (as the young kids say) with some of the members. I've had a few phone calls from people interested in the club, and I'm hoping some will visit and see what we're up to. Hope to see yall! Oh, and Fred would also be happy to collect your dues! $15 per year, cash, check, money orders are acceptible (and he might be willing to barter, if you have tools). Here's a link to Dave's website, in case you want to see what he might be bringing!

February Meeting location has changed!!!!!!!!!!!

Just heard from Fred Nahlen, his plans have changed and he is not available to open the First Electric building on February 16th. But arrangements have been made so we can meet at First Christian Church of Sherwood on the 16th at the same time. The church is located at 2803 East Kiehl Avenue, Sherwood. This is just east of the police department, on the corner of Shelby and Kiehl (there is a light there). The meeting will be held in the Chalice Hall, which is the large metal building behind the church. Just go through the parking lot. If you are coming on 167, just take the Kiehl exit and head west. I believe it is about the 4th traffic light from 167. If you are coming from 107, it will be right after the first light after you come to on Kiehl. My cell is 766-1229, if you get lost!
